GOVT TO ENGAGE LAZ OVER FRAUDULENT LAW FIRMS

By Prudence Siabana

Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe says government will engage the Law Association of Zambia-LAZ- over some law firms that were mentioned in the Financial Intelligence Center-FIC- report to see where the gaps are coming from.

This follows a 2021 report by the FIC report which has highlighted how some law firms are involved in money laundering and fraud.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Haimbe says government is concerned with this development and other cases that have been cited in the FIC report and has assured the nation that those involved will face the law.
Mr. Haimbe has since reiterated that the government will act on the findings in the FIC report just like the way it works on cases that are cited in the auditor general’s report.

And the Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC Board Chairperson Musa Mwenye says the commission has taken interest in the report, will study the findings and follow evidence while pursuing the past and current corruption cases.
