Govt to create conditions that enhance the welfare of children

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Government and non state partners should continue working together to create conditions that enhance the welfare of the children in the country and the region.
President HICHILEMA says children’s rights should always be discussed on the routine agenda so that the environment they operate in continues to be improved.
He says government remains committed to bettering the environment for children so that they can become more responsible in future.
President HICHILEMA says Government has made a decision to make legislation that covers the welfare of the children.
He says Government will continue making targeted investments so that children can acquire education and skills especially in mathematics and science.
President HICHILEMA further says there is need to revisit the curriculum so that children can learn things that are relevant to the current environment.
He says children should also be taught financial literacy and entrepreneurship at an early age.
President HICHILEMA has also urged stakeholders to allow children to prosper in talent.
He said this during the world Children’s Day commemoration which is being held in Lusaka.
President HICHILEMA has been joined by Botswana’s President MOKGWEETSI MASISI, Zimbabwean President EMMERSON MNANGAGWA and Namibia’s Vice President NANGOLO MBUMBA.
President HICHILEMA said it is important that the four countries continue working together to find solutions to the challenges that children are facing.
He said the commemoration is a platform for Governments to reflect on the welfare of children so that strategies are realigned to fit into the current environment.
And children’s Representative MICHAEL PHIRI called on the four Governments to address the issues that affect the wellbeing of children so that they grow up to be responsible citizens.
The worlds children’s day commemoration is being held under the theme “a better future for every child.”
