Govt to Assess farmer’s losses

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says assessments will be conducted to ascertain the amount of losses farmers who got loans  have incurred.

Mrs. NALUMANGO explains that the banks will collaborate with agricultural stakeholders to conduct thorough assessments of farmers who received loans for agricultural purposes.

She says in spite of the drought  that has ravaged some parts of the country, some farmers will still have a good crop harvest.

Mrs. NALUMANGO however said the government will distribute relief food to  households  affected by the drought.

The Vice President was responding to Bahati Member of Parliament LEEVAN CHIBOMBWE during matters of urgent public importance in Parliament.

Mr. CHIBOMBWE asked the Vice President if government had plans to write off the loans that farmers obtained following the drought that has hit some parts of the country
