GOVT RELEASES K457M SCT FUNDS

Government has released over 457 million kwacha Social Cash Transfer funds for the months of May and June 2022.

The money is for beneficiaries in all the 116 Districts across the country.

Chief Government Spokesperson CHUSHI KASANDA says 84 districts have so far confirmed receiving the funds in their accounts.

Ms. KASANDA who is also Information and Media Minister told ZNBC News in a statement that the Government is happy that the facility continues to impact positively on the lives of the people.

She said it is Government’s resolve to ensure the disbursement of the Social Cash Transfer remains constant and consistent for the benefit of the eligible households.

Ms. KASANDA has appealed to the beneficiaries to contact the District Welfare Assistance Committees in their respective districts to access their funds.

The Social Cash Transfer Programme has so far reached over 974,000 households countrywide whose objective is to reduce extreme poverty and intergenerational transfer of poverty among households across the country.

Categories of beneficiaries include households with an elderly person, members with severe disability, members who are chronically ill and on palliative care, child-headed households and female-headed households with at least three children.
