GOVT EAGER TO INCREASE EARNINGS –MUSUKWA

Mines Minister Richard Musukwa says authorities are eager to increase earnings from mining to finance the country’s economic diversification agenda.Mr. Musukwa says this will enable the country diversify other economic sectors.The Minister was speaking when British High Commissioner to Zambia Nicholas Woolley paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Lusaka today.Mr. Musukwa has further urged mining companies from the United Kingdom and other countries to invest in Zambia’s mining sector to help the country develop capacity and increase revenue generation.Meanwhile, Mr. Woolley said his government is keen to expand cooperation with Zambia in mining for mutual benefit.He has since called on British companies in Zambia to ensure their businesses benefit people in communities where they operate.Mr. Woolley also expressed satisfaction at the support being given to British companies engaged in mining activities.
