Govt determined to fight GBV

ZANIS-Namwala District Commissioner EPHRAIM SHANDAVU says government is determined to fighting Gender Based violence in communities.

Mr SHANDAVU says government will continue to strengthen and implement measures to prevent Gender Based Violence -GBV- from occurring in all its forms.

He has since praised Oxfam in Zambia and its Partners Global Affairs Canada and other Organizations in Namwala that have Partnered with Government to Fight Gender inequality and GBV in Communities.

Mr SHANDAVU was speaking at the District Celebrations of the 16 days of Gender activism which was celebrated under the theme “Orange The World End Violence Against Women Now”

Oxfam Zambia which is currently running a project Called Her Future Her Choice in Namwala Partnered with the District Gender Committee to fund the District Commemoration of the District Celebrations of the Gender Activism day.

And, Speaking at the same Function Namwala District Health Director JOSEPH TEMBO disclosed that the District Health Office in Partnership with the Police Victim support Unit has been conducting sensitization Campaigns on the importance of reporting GBV case

to the nearest Health Centers and Police which has resulted in increased reported cases.
