Govt dealing with business bottlenecks

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says government is working on removing bottlenecks that contribute to the high cost of doing business.

Mrs NALUMANGO says Government’s role is to ensure that it attracts investment by removing rigidities to create a conducive environment for business.

And, The Vice President has urged the Zambia Federation of Employers to reach out to new investors and sensitize them on workers’ rights and the country’s labour laws.

Mrs NALUMANGO says government is ken to see decent jobs created by the private sector.

The Vice President was speaking during the 56th Zambia Federation of Employers Annual General Meeting in Lusaka today.

Labour and Social Security Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA said government values consultations and social dialogue.

International Labour Organisation -ILO- Country Director WELLINGTON CHIBEBE urged Zambia to ratify and domesticate convention-ILO- convention 190 which provides a common framework to prevent, remedy and eliminate violence and harrassement at places of work.

Meanwhile Zambia Federation of Employers President MYRA NGOMA urged government to address the cost of living.

And Zambia Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU- President BLAKE MULALA urged government to reconsider its decision to take the National Health Insurance Scheme-NHIMA- to the Ministry of Health.
