Govt assures ZNS of stable supply of maize

Government has assured that there will be a sustainable supply of maize to Zambia National Service -ZNS- milling plants to stabilise the mealie meal prices in the country.

Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA says the country is projected to record a good crop yield which will increase supply of maize grain to plants by local farmers.

Mr. LUFUMA says Government is committed to expanding the ZNS managed milling plants to effectively meet the increased demand for the staple commodity.

He was speaking during a tour of the ZNS Monze milling plant with Information and Media Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA and ZNS commander Lieutenant General MALITI SOLOCHI in Southern Province.

Meanwhile Mr. MWEETWA, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, cautioned stakeholders against the continued politicisation of the staple food supply to gain political mileage.
