GOVT ADVISES FARMERS TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ANY PEST OUTBREAK TO FACILITATE FOR SPEEDY COMBATING

Government has through the Ministry of Agriculture is urging farmers to be on the lookout for any pest outbreak such as the fall armyworms, to facilitate speedy combating.
Agriculture Minister Mtolo Phiri says the current climatic conditions are highly favorable to the outbreak of pests which if not detected early can affect the yields eventually threatening the food security of the country.
Mr Mtolo says the new dawn government has prioritized the plight of farmers hence its preparedness to combat any pests during this year’s farming season.
The minister has also stressed on the need for farmers to be alert, by ensuring that they also buy chemicals for pest control.
