GOVT ACTS TO ADDRESS CDF BOTTLENECKS

Acting Secretary to the Treasury, MUKULI CHIKUBA has called for the unlocking of all bottlenecks in accessing the Constituency Development Funds – CDF.

Mr. CHIKUBA says government has noted public concerns hindering the CDF applicants in accessing the Fund.

He said this at Chalimbana Local Government Institute were more than 250 officers involved in the CDF implementation in Local Authorities countrywide are meeting.

Mr. CHIKUBA advised the officers to adhere to the Government policy directive in the procurement process of CDF projects and programmes, which should ensure the right pricing, right quantity and timely delivery for the country to benefit.

The Acting Secretary to the Treasury also tasked the officers to actively sensitize the public on issues such as the need to develop the CDF project designs before procurement is done to avoid the implementation being negatively affected if not well handled

And, Permanent Secretary Special Duties-Cabinet Office NICHOLAS PHIRI tasked the officers in the CDF cycle to ensure there is adequate capacity in all Local Authorities, if all CDF projects are to benefit communities.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Technical Services WISDOM BWALYA, implored the officers to ensure dissemination of correct information on the Fund to the public.

Mr. BWALYA said this is to avoid misinformation which has resulted into defrauding of citizens in some instances.
