Government’s Failure To Address Ever Increasing Cases Of Land Wrangles In The Country Worrying

By Leah Ngoma

The Golden Party of Zambia is concerned over the government’s alleged failure to arrest the ever-increasing cases of land wrangles in the country.

Party President Jackson Silavwe has cited the recent incident involving over 80 Kabwe based families whose houses were demolished on allegations of having built on land belonging to the Zambia army which he has described as saddening.

Mr Silavwe has told phoenix news that while foreigners seem to be enjoying smooth processes/procedures when acquiring land, local people are met with strict conditions and latter illegalities perpetrated by people who are supposed to help them acquire genuine pieces of land.

He wonders as to who then will help these victims, especially where government through its officials such as the Kabwe district commissioner can come out openly and refused to help the victims.

Mr Silavwe has since called upon the government to prioritize the welfare of its people knowing too well that there is no other place we can call our home other than our motherland Zambia.
