Government committed to promoting sustainable management of natural resources on Lake Tanganyika.

KAMANGANorthern Province Permanent Secretary Elias Kamanga says government is committed to promoting sustainable management of natural resources on Lake Tanganyika.

Mr. Kamanga tells Q-news that government is therefore committed to ensuring the implementation of the African Development bank Lake Tanganyika development project.

He says government wants to see a joint management of natural resources on Lake Tanganyika with Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania.

Mr. Kamanga states that if natural resource management is not promoted among the five countries, there will be depletion of fish on the lake in the near future.

He adds government is also looking out for potential investment in increasing capacity for fish farming and production in the province.
