GIZ DONATES PADS,COVID-19 PREVENTION MATERIALS

(ZANIS) The German Agency for International Corporation -GIZ- has donated reusable sanitary towels and Covid 19 prevention materials worth 1.3-million Kwacha to adolescents in Lusaka province.

GIZ Project Manager DIENEKE HUUMBA, who made the donation to Lusaka Province Minister SHEAL MULYATA, said the items are intended to help address the barriers of access to health services among adolescents and young people.

Ms. HUUMBA observed that Zambia has seen an increase in teen pregnancies stating that following the indefinite closure of schools, many young people had no activities to keep them busy and engaged in illicit sexual activities.

In receiving the donation, Ms. MULYATA noted that poor access to health facilities among the poor and under serviced remains a challenge in many rural areas.

The provincial minister added that the rural adolescents are facing challenges in education due to lack of sexual reproductive health.
