GBFC women are Cosafa club champions

Wilson Mulinda-Captain JOANA BENAYA scored the winning penalty as Green Buffaloes women’s football club dethroned Mamelodi Sundowns to win the women’s club COSAFA champions trophy.

The match ended in a nil nil stalemate with Sundowns ending the match with 10 women.

Buffaloes had their keeper AISHA MBWANA to thank as she saved 2 penalties to set up BENAYA to concert the 7th spot kick.

Sundowns started the game strong as they threatened with several attempts.

Both sides could not find the winner within 90 minutes, sending the tie into extra time.

Both halves of extra time could not produce a winner and penalties were needed to decide the winner.

The two teams converted their first five penalties apiece, but went on to miss the next two.

MBWANA went down to her right to save Sundowns 8th attempt before BENAYA secured the trophy for the army women.
