Gamphani Lungu scores late penalty to rescue a point for Supersport United

Zambia national team forward Gamphani Lungu scored a late penalty to rescue a point for Supersport United in their Week 24 of the DSTV premiership.

Matsatsantsa were without Thamsanqa Gabuza and Iqraam Rayners through suspension hence Lungu was called upon to lead the line alongside, Selaelo Rasebotja.

After a balanced start to the match, Chippa United got the breakthrough five minutes to halftime when Azola Matrose cut in from the left and rifled a powerful shot past Ronwen Williams at the near post.

In the second half, Supersport United came back with a lot of intent.

A back-heel effort in the area from Lungu nearly led the hosts to the leveller late on in the contest but it was somehow kept out.

SuperSport finally had their rewards two minutes from time when Lungu netted from the penalty spot after Donn went down in the area to make sure the encounter ended all square.

The win takes, Matsatsantsa to 7th place on the log with 31 points.

Lungu has now scored six goals in the league which is one more than he has managed in his last three seasons combined.
