South Africa based striker Gamphani Lungu has heaped praise on coach Kaitano Tembo and Captain Ronwen Williams in the wake of his current form which has seen him score two goals in two games.

Lungu says he is thankful to the coach for the trust put in him, given the fact that the club has a number of quality strikers. The former Power Dynamos forward was also quick to praise the goalkeeper Ronwen Williams who has been pushing him to work hard.

“I want to say thank to the coach for putting me upfront because there is a good striker Gabuza on the bench but he has given me a chance to play. Yes, it’s my natural position, and am happy to play it. There is just that confidence in the squad, everyone is playing well, You will find Bradley is playing well and when you look at him it gives you the motivation to do more on the field,” Lungu told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview.

“Me scoring two goals in the last two games, Well that’s partly thanks to the captain Ronen Williams, really nice guy both on and off the pitch. He pushes me and helps me to work hard.”

Matsatsantsa is currently third on the log with 47 points after 27 games and has a huge chance to qualify for continental football.

The 21-year-old forward believes the possibility of playing CAF inter-clubs Competitions next season is a big motivating factor for his side who want to return to where they ‘deserve’.

“It’s a big motivation factor because at the beginning of the season we had a meeting to discuss what we wanted, being in the top 4 is something big and this late in the season, it’s tight up there and any mistake can make you move out of the top eight,” he said.

“We set targets to win trophies and play continental football, the team played continental football the other year and we had a bad season last year but we now want to get back to where we deserve, We have worked hard.”

“Now is our chance to fight and finish in a good position, we just focusing on our games and not what happens above or below us, so that we finish strong,” he added.

Lungu has scored three goals so far this season in 15 appearances for the three-time PSL Champions. Next up for Matsatsantsa is a tricky encounter against the Sea Robbers on Saturday.
