FRA pays all farmers who supplied crops this year

By Brian Mwale

The Food Reserve Agency -FRA- has paid all farmers who supplied their crops during this year’s crop marketing season that closed on October 31st.

About K1.9-billion has been paid to farmers countrywide.

FRA Public Relations Coordinator JOHN CHIPANDWE says a huge part of the money was paid to farmers who supplied Grade A white maize.

Mr. CHIPANDWE says the agency in the just ended crop marketing season purchased 6.9-million by 50-kilogramme bags of maize.

He has however advised farmers who may have not received their payment to visit designated banks in their areas and collect their cash.

Mr. CHIPANDWE has expressed optimism that the timely payments made to farmers will facilitate adequate preparations for this year’s farming season, stimulate and spur development in rural communities.

This is contained in a statement availed to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
