Four people drown on Lake Mweru after boat capsizes, Police say

FOUR (04) people among them, two female children have drowned on Lake Mweru in Nchelenge District after the canoe on which they were on capsized.
The incident happened on Wednesday last week at about 16:00 hours, Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has said.
Katongo in a statement said the canoe which was coming from Isokwe Island with 12 people on board was heading to the main land at Bulaya village for business but capsized due to strong wind and waves.
And Katongo identified the victims as Mervis Kabungo aged 30 of Chikange Village, Chief Kambwali in Nchelenge District with her four months old daughter Bridget  Kabaso, and Susan Mulenga aged 27 of the same village and her one year eight months old baby named Silvia Ngoi.
She said two bodies of Susan Mulenga and her daughter have so far been retrieved while a search for the remaining bodies is still on.
And Katongo said the other unknown occupants survived after they were rescued by some fishermen.
