Four people die in Gwembe accident

FOUR people have died on the spot while 17 other passengers have sustained serious injuries in an accident which occurred yesterday morning at 10 :00 hours on bottom road in Munyumbwe of Gwembe District.

In a statement, Zambia Police assistant public relations officer Esther Mwaata-Katongo stated that the accident involved a Mitsubishi canter registration number ALZ 7103 which was being driven by an unknown driver who fled the scene of accident.

“The accident occurred when the driver failed to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed and in the process, passengers fell off the moving vehicle,”Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo stated.

“Four passengers died on the spot while 17 others sustained injuries and were rushed to Munyumbwe and Gwembe Health centers. We have instituted Investigations to bring to book the driver of the motor vehicle.”
