FODEP CALLS FOR COMPREHENSIVE CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS

The Foundation for Democratic Process –FODEP-has urged government to initiate a process that will result in comprehensive constitutional reforms for Zambia.

FODEP Executive Director George Chimembe says he is opposed to the fragmented amendments proposed by stakeholders, Zambia requires a comprehensive and inclusive approach towards the constitutional amendments to avoid the recurrence of lacunas in the document.

Mr Chimembe says the constitution-review process should aim at ensuring the broader participation of the citizenry in the governance of the country by repealing certain contentious clauses that hinder other citizens such as the current public order act.
He spoke to phoenix news in an interview.
