FLASH FLOODS HIT 150 HOUSEHOLDS

Over One hundred and 50 households In Kalomo district have been affected by flash floods.

This has resulted in several houses collapsing and leaving many homeless.

This is due to the persistent rainfall that the area has been experiencing.

And the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- has started distributing relief food and tents to help the affected families in the district.

Southern province DMMU Coordinator Esnart Makwakwa told ZANIS in Choma today that Kalomo experienced heavy rains from the 20th of January which has caused floods in some parts of the district.

Ms. Makwakwa also said many roads and bridges have been washed away.

She said a number of schools have been affected thereby disrupting the learning process.

Ms Makwakwa said the DMMU is now providing humanitarian assistant to the affected families in form of food, shelter and other logistics.
