FISP PROBE

By Wilson Mulinda:

Police have instituted investigations into a matter of illegal sale of Farmer Input Support Programme -FISP- fertilizer involving FORESTCOL Fertilizer Company and JOHNKEN farms in Central Province.

Katuba Member of Parliament Mwabashike Nkulukusa says he was made aware of the development after a tip off from members of the public.

Speaking when he visited Johnken farm, Mr. Nkulukusa discovered that there were over 5 thousand 6 hundred bags of Compound D fertilizer which were meant for FISP, but sold to the company.

He said such lawlessness will not be condoned in the new administration because small scale farmers need that support.

Meanwhile, Johnken Farm General Manager Weiguo Huang explained that the supplier confirmed that it was a mistake on their part to package the fertilizer in Government bags.

Mr. Huang said Forestcol has been supplying the farm with fertilizer the past 2 years and such has never happened.
