The FIFA convened meeting between FAZ and aggrieved parties failed to take place once again after the credentials of the aggrieved parties were availed less than 24 hours to the commencement of the meeting.

According to a press statement by FAZ Communications manager Sydney Mungala, FIFA decided to postpone the meeting to next week.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to inform the football family and all stakeholders that the FIFA convened a meeting between FAZ and the aggrieved parties scheduled for today (30th October 2020) failed to take off.

FIFA had asked all the parties to provide credentials to the zoom meeting before the date of the caucus that was set to resolve all the wrangles revolving around electoral disputes in the Zambian game.”

FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala confirmed the development to FAZ media and says that FIFA will formally communicate to all the parties involved in the details for the meeting.

“FIFA who are the convenors of the meeting have indicated that the meeting will take place next week. We were unable to proceed with the meeting today as we received credentials from the aggrieved parties less than 24 hours before the commencement of the meeting. FAZ forwarded the credentials to FIFA but they were too late to fall within schedule,” Kashala said.

“FIFA could not proceed with all the requisite formalities before the commencement of the meeting and therefore postponed it.”

“FIFA will formally communicate to all the parties involved in the details for the next meeting,” he added.

FAZ and the aggrieved parties signed a truce on July 10, 2020, that culminated in a consent judgment ceasing all court matters in line with FIFA barring resolving football matters via courts of law.

The aggrieved parties are expected to present their case with FAZ given a chance to answer before FIFA can give a way forward to put a close to wrangles that have rocked the electoral process.

The meeting will have FAZ representative, Ministry of Sport officials, National Sports Council of Zambia, and the Alleged aggrieved parties to the ongoing electoral process led by Patson Lusaka and Damiano Mutale (maximum of three representatives).

FIFA had initially set Tuesday, September 1, 2020, as the date for the resolution of the FAZ wrangles, However, the aggrieved parties demanded for more time before they could be ready for the FIFA mediated meeting.
