FERTILISER PLANT WORKS ELATE GOVT

Agriculture Minister RUEBEN PHIRI is elated with the pace at which the construction of the fertiliser plant is moving.

Mr PHIRI says progress has been made since the construction works for the United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Limited plant were commissioned by Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO last year.

Speaking shortly after a tour of the construction site, Mr. PHIRI expressed optimism that the manufacturing of fertilizers will result in price reduction of the commodity.

He stressed that farmers are guaranteed of buying genuine quality fertilizer at an affordable price.

Mr. PHIRI said the making fertiliser affordable will enable farmers to benefit immensely and further grow the agriculture sector.

And United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Limited Board Chairperson, CHANCE KABAGHE informed the Minister that 1.2 million tonnes of fertilizers will be produced once the plant is fully operational.

Mr KABAGHE further disclosed that the first phase of production is expected to start this year in July 2022.
