FAZ Women’s National League: Big wins for Buffaloes, LD, and Indeni as Doves and Queens remain winless

Green Buffaloes, Indeni Roses, and Lusaka Dynamos have continued on their winning path while Police Doves and Queens Academy recorded their second defeats in as many games.

The FAZ Women’s National League entered week two of action this morning with five games taking place.

Lusaka Dynamos welcomed Kabwe based outfit, Queens Academy at Queensmead Stadium looking to continue where they left off last week when they beat Nkwazi Queens 2-0 at Edwin Imboela Stadium. Lusaka Dynamos coach Grace Mwango made changes to the team that beat Nkwazi with Towera Nkhata returning to the starting line up replacing her elder sister Thandi.

Towera produced one of her usual magic assists from a set-piece needing only the smallest of touches from Grace ‘Njonginjo’ Tembo to put Lusaka Dynamos in the lead six minutes into the first stanza.

The Elite Ladies made it 2-0 before halftime as Elizabeth Mupeso converted from the spot after Siomela Mapepa was brought down inside the area.

Grace Tembo completed her brace and sealed the win in the second half with a close-range finish after a beautiful ball from Comfort Selemani.

At Green Square Stadium in Arakan Barracks, Green Buffaloes humiliated Mufulira Wanderers Queens 5-0 thanks to goals from Shelly Masumo, Theresa Chewe, Ethel Chama, Joana Benaya, and Jackeline ‘Balotelli’ Masenke.

The biggest game of the weekend however was staged at Nkoloma where Red Arrows Women’s football club welcomed Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA).

Deservedly the match ended in a 1-1 draw with Maweta Gloria Chilenga scoring for BUSA while Ochumba Oseke Lubanji scored for the AirWomen.

In Ndola, Indeni Roses thrashed Police Doves 4-0 thanks to goals from Esther Namukwasa, Nyais Monga, and Noria Sosala.

Elsewhere, Nkana Queens picked up their first point as they played to a goalless draw with National Assembly.

Tomorrow, ZISD host Nkwazi while YASA Queens square off with Zesco United Ladies to complete week 2 fixtures.
