The Football Association of Zambia -FAZ has congratulated the under-17 women national football team for emerging second at the just ended COSAFA championship.

The Zambia girls Under-17 team walked away with Silver at the championship held in South Africa.

The Shepolopolo lost 4-3 on post-match spot-kicks to Tanzania after the match ended 1-1 in normal time.

And FAZ President Andrew Kamanga says the Shepolopolo have represented the country well.

Kamanga says the U-17 have improved after finishing third place at the 2019 inaugural tournament.

He adds that the team has shown a lot of promise by winning all their group matches and only losing in the finals.

Kamanga has urged the girls not to relent but to continue working hard as there will be bigger assignments ahead.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by FAZ Communications Manager Sydney Mungala
