Fashion on target in Rangers win
Zambian forward Fashion Sakala Jnr continued his fine form in Scotland helping FC Rangers to a 4-1 win over Ross County.
Sakala Jnr netted the third goal as the Light Blues cruised to a routine 4-1 win in a Scottish Premiership encounter at Ibrox.
The win is good motivation for the Light Blues ahead of next week’s UEFA Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt. Sakala has now been involved in three goals in his last four games (2 goals and an assist).
Goals from Scott Wright, James Tavernier, Fashion Jr and Amad secured the points to bring the curtain down on home matches for the season.
Manager van Bronckhorst named seven changes to his side for Wednesday evening’s Scottish Premiership match with Ross County.
From the team which defeated Dundee United on Sunday, Tavernier, Borna Barisic, Connor Goldson and Wright retained their starting places and were joined tonight by Allan McGregor, Calvin Bassey, John Lundstram, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara, Scott Wright, Borna Barisic and Alex Lowry.
After a strong start by the hosts and being denied on three occasions, The breakthrough came in the 13th minute, Barisic’s corner was flicked on at the front post by Goldson, and following up at the back post to tap into an empty net for his sixth of the season.
On 28 minutes, Skipper James Tavernier won and converted a penalty, Despite Laidlaw going the right way, his accuracy was superb as he found the far right corner.
County pulled one back as Jordan White curled a super effort beyond the reach of McGregor and into the back of the net.
Rangers restored their lead in the 82nd minute as Super sub Fashion Jr stooped low superbly to head a Tavernier corner into the back of the net to secure the points.
Amad Diallo who came close several times wasn’t to be denied though, as he grabbed his goal in injury-time, tapping home a fine Bassey ball at the back post.
Fashion and Rangers will now move on to face Hearts in their last league match on Saturday before facing Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League final next week.
