Farmers Warned of Arrest if they Sell FISP Inputs

Katombora Member of Parliament CLEMENT ANDELEKI has warned FISP beneficiaries against selling the inputs.

Mr ANDELEKI says anyone found selling FISP inputs will not only be arrested but will also be removed from the list of beneficiaries for good.

He said this at the flagging off of the distribution of farming inputs to farmers in Kazungula District.

About 4200 tonnes of Urea and D compound fertilizer and 100  tonnes of maize seed among other seeds were given out to farmers.

And Dr. ANDELEKI says a law will soon be passed that will stiffen the punishment for cattle rustlers to protect the hard work of farmers.

KAZUNGULA District Commissioner, ELIAS SIAMIBILA says all the farmers in the district who will benefit from the farming inputs from the government will be required to sell at least twenty bags of maize to the Food Reserve Agency.

Mr. SIAMIBILA says the move will enhance monitoring of farmers to ensure they are not selling the farming inputs once given.
