Family Of Late Independence Heroine Veronica Mumba Speaks Out

By Etambuyu Katota-daughter of late freedom fighter, Veronica Mumba, Alphonisia has called on Zambians to pray for the family during the difficult time.Mrs. Mwale says the death of her mother, Mrs Mumba has devastated the whole family.She says Mrs. Mumba suffered from a short illness that led to her death.Mrs. Mwale says the late freedom fighter will be buried in Eastern province at Minga in Petauke District.Mrs Mwale was speaking in an interview with ZNBC news in Lusaka today.The veteran freedom fighter was wife to Omelo Mumba.Ms Mumba died on Thursday night in her daughter’s house on Bwinjimfumu Road in Rhodespark, Lusaka.She was 92 years old.Ms MUMBA, who was a member of the Central Committee of the United National Independence Party -UNIP was honoured for her role as a freedom fighter.
