Ex Speaker Amusaa Mwanamwambwa dies

Former Speaker of the National Assembly AMUSAA MWANAMWAMBWA has died.

Speaker of the National Assembly NELLY MUTTI has disclosed that Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA died at Forest Park Hospital in Lusaka yesterday.

Mrs. MUTTI has paid glowing tribute to Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA who served as Speaker from 1998 to 2011.

Mrs. MUTTI, who is attending an Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in the Angolan capital Luanda, has since cut short her stay in the neighbouring country and will be returning home following the bereavement.

This is according to a statement issued by Clerk of the National Assembly ROY NGULUBE.

Before becoming Speaker, Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA worked as a Journalist in various capacities, such as Press Attache in the Foreign Service, as Liuwa Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister in various Ministries.

And Former Parliamentary Chief Whip VERNON MWAANGA has described Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA as a thoughtful, thorough and professional person.

Mr. MWAANGA says Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA was a gentleman whose personal and work credentials remain as his legacy.

He has sent his condolences to Mrs CATHY MWANAMWAMBWA and the entire family.
