EU SETS ASIDE 26M EUROS FOR AGRI-BUSINESSES

The European Union -EU- has set aside 26 Million Euros to support Agri-businesses in Zambia.

Through the fund, the EU hopes to integrate 150 thousand small holder farmers into viable value chains.

This is through the Enterprise Fund Project expected to run for five years.

Self Help Africa Portfolio Manager NGOLWE SIKAZWE told ZNBC News that his organisation is implementing the project in Zambia with their partners.

Mr SIKAZWE disclosed that so far 13 Million Euros has been given out to 20 Agribusiness companies that applied.

He was speaking during a tour of Chisamba Ranching and Cropping who have applied for a grant and are buying livestock from the Small holder farmers in Liteta area in Central province.

Meanwhile, Chisamba Ranching and Cropping Chief Executive Director JOHN WOLHUNTER said his company is adding value to livestock which is bought from farmers in Western, Central, Southern and Copperbelt provinces.
