EU SALUTES GOVT FOR MINISTRY OF GREEN ECONOMY

(NAIS) The European Union -EU)-has commended the government for establishing the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment as it will help in improving farmers’ productivity.

Counsellor of the delegation of EU to Zambia and COMESA, MATTHIAS REUSING says environmental degradation and deforestation are some of the causes of climate change which pose serious threats to agricultural production and productivity.

Mr. REUSING says the creation of the new ministry will help farmers to adopt good agronomic practices that will not be detrimental to both themselves and the environment.

He was speaking when his delegation paid a courtesy call on the Acting District coordinator’s office in Lundazi district, while touring all the projects being funded by the EU in Eastern Province.

And Lundazi Acting District Commissioner MUKULE BANDA acknowledged the works of the EU in the province.
