EU Puts 50m Euros in Agribusinesses

(NAIS) Over 50-million Euros has been invested in Agribusiness enterprises by the European Union -EU- to enhance the delivery of services to small scale farmers in Zambia.

Self Help Africa Enterprise Zambia Challenge Fund team leader MARK IRELAND says the funds are meant to create a better market for the small scale farmers in Zambia.

He has told NAIS that the fund’s objectives are to also see small scale farmers in Zambia increase production and productivity.

And speaking earlier, Starke Ayres Zambia project Coordinator ABEL ONDYA say his company being one of the grant beneficiaries from the Enterprise Zambia Challenge Fund is promoting hybrid breed seeds and improved farming systems among the small scale farmers
n the country.

He said his company has since inception trained more than 20 thousand farmers in Zambia.
