EU calls on Zambia to use carbon credits for climate change fight

The European Union delegation to Zambia has called for resource mobilisation so that the country can carry out measures to fight climate change.

EU Delegation to Zambia Counsellor for European Green Deal MATTHIAS REUSING says Zambia can utilise the carbon markets to raise funds for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Mr. REUSING says carbon markets are an effective tool to raise money as they have been successfully utilised in Europe.

Speaking during a media cocktail in Lusaka last evening, Mr. REUSING said green financing is very important for the country to effectively contribute to the fight to protect the environment.

And, EU Ambassador to Zambia KAROLINE STASIAK said Zambia’s priority with the environment are aligned with those of the EU.

Ms. STASIAK says the country has seen floods and droughts which have ravaged the country and there is need to fight climate change together.
