ETG buys maize at K92.50

KELVIN CHONGO, Lusaka
IN AN effort to provide an alternative market for small-scale farmers, Export Trading Group (ETG) has started buying maize at K92.50 for a 50-kilogramme bag.
ETG director Alok Dikshit said as an emerging agro-dealer, the company wants to reach more farmers, especially those in rural areas that have difficulties finding a good market for their maize.
Mr Dikshit said the problems associated with grain marketing and lack of reliable buyers will soon be over once farmers embrace alternative strategies through the Zambia Agricultural Commodity Exchange (ZAMACE) through the warehouse receipt system that enables farmers to deposit storable goods (usually grains or coffee) in exchange for a warehouse receipt http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
