EQUALIZATION FUND USED FOR FISH PROJECT

Over 120,000 Kwacha Local Government Equalization Fund has been used to set up five fish ponds in Petauke district.

The fishpond project under the Petauke Town Council has been set up in Mbala ward near the Lusowe Dam.

Petauke Council Chairperson EDWARD BANDA says the project will later be rolled out to all wards in the district.

Mr. BANDA has told ZNBC News in an interview that it is expected that with the experience from the fish project in Mbala ward, the local authority will ably train farmers on fish farming.

He says the local authority hopes to see farmers diversify from maize and sunflower farming to aquaculture.
