Edward Lungu ecstatic after maiden Chipolopolo call up

Winger Edward Lungu has expressed happiness with his first call up to the Zambia national team following his recent impressive form with Kitwe United in the Super League.

The tricky winger is among the 36 players summoned for the upcoming June FIFA window-friendly matches against Senegal, Benin, and Sudan.

Lungu said the hard work that he has put in since the start of the season had finally paid off and that he will continue to work even harder.

“It was great, am very happy, first this is my first time to be called to the national team, and it is not easy and I thank God for the call-up,” he said.

“The guys here are fine, they are encouraging me a lot and telling me that I can do it.”

“I have been working hard since the start of the season and finally it has paid off,” he added.

Lungu has been in scintillating form recently for relegated Kitwe United hence earning his first call up. Lungu has netted three goals and assisted three times.

Meanwhile, the ZamFoot Crew understands that he will make a switch to a Super League team with Lusaka and Ndola teams expressing interest in his services.

The Chipolopolo Boys will face Senegal in an international friendly match on June 5th, Benin on June 8th and then they are expected to proceed to Omdurman to play Sudan on June 10.
