By Moombe Hamoobola

A Livingstone-based Education Expert, has urged teacher unions to train the newly recruited teachers in financial literacy.

Dr. KABOMBO KASHUMBA has told ZNBC news that this will protect the newly recruited teachers from falling into heavy debt.

Dr. KASHUMBA, who is also Zambia Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU- Southern Province Regional Coordinator, said a number of public service workers are highly indebted because of lack of financial literacy.

He noted that if the newly employed teachers engage in unnecessary and unsustainable debt, it will affect their  service delivery.

And Dr. KASHUMBA has urged the teacher unions to orient the newly employed teachers on their rights and code of ethics.
