EARLY MARRIAGES WORRY EDUCATION MINISTER

Education Minister DOUGLAS SIAKALIMA says measures should be put in place to address the problem of early marriages and pupils dropping out of school.

And Mr. SIAKALIMA has thanked teachers in Monze District for their efforts to impart knowledge and skills to learners despite facing various challenges.

Speaking in an interview with journalists shortly after addressing school head teachers at Monze Secondary School, Mr. SIAKALIMA said the high number of early marriages coupled with pupils dropping out of schools is worrying to the government.

He said the government will continue to engage parents and traditional leaders to find a lasting solution on the matter.
