DMMU Gives Kasama Village 100mt of Maize

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has released 100 metric tons of maize to Chimalilo village in Kasama district.Kasama District Commissioner, Kelly Kashiwa who confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama said the maize will be given as relief food to vulnerable people in the area.Mr. Kashiwa  explained that the decision to offer relief food to the area follows the DMMU Kasama District Committee’s appeal for government to assisting the people in the area following crop failure due to floods.The District Commissioner added that the people in Chimalilo village, who mainly cultivate cassava, experienced crop failure as most of their crop was damaged by floods.
