Delayed payments slows down land title issuance

The Ministry of Lands says less than half of the people issued with offer letters have paid the minimum amount required under the National Land Titling Programme.

National Land Titling Programme Project Manager EMMANUEL TEMBO says of the One hundred and 99 thousand offer letters given out only 96 thousand 5-hundred have paid for their land

Mr. TEMBO says the main challenge in the issuance of titles is delayed payments of the minimum amount required.

He told ZNBC News said in order to encourage people to pay the Ministry of Lands has embarked on ruffle draws.

Mr. TEMBO said 5-thousand kwacha will be given to ten lucky land owners who have paid the minimum amount.

He said the ruffle draws will be done every two weeks up to the end of December 2023.
