CROSS BORDER TRADE BILL GOES TO PARLIAMENT

The Ministry of Commerce has initiated a bill aimed at improving cross border trade.
Ministry of Commerce Permanent Secretary Kayula Siame says the Border Coordination and Trade Bill has already been presented to Parliament.
Ms. Siame says the bill when enacted in law will bring about better coordination, efficiency, easy movement of goods and therefore reduce the cost of doing business.
Ms. Siame was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka.
And Ms. Siame says there is need to rethink and come up with a framework aimed at supporting implementation of business reforms in Zambia.
She says the framework needs to be established that can bring together ministries involved in reforms aimed at reducing the cost of doing business.
Ms. Siame noted that while Zambia’s ranking in terms of easy of doing business globally has dropped from 87 to 85, the country still remains competitive in the region.
She says Zambia has been ranked number 8 in Africa in terms of easy of doing business while in Sub Saharan Africa its ranking stands at number 6.
