COVID-19: VACCINATION NUMBERS GO UP

The cumulative number of people that have received the Covid vaccine now stands at Three Thousand, Three Hundred and 91 since the launch of the campaign last Wednesday.

Health Minister Jonas Chanda has disclosed that among those that have been vaccinated include health workers, civic leaders, and members of the public.

He has reiterated the need for people to get vaccinated to prevent themselves from the imminent third wave.

The Minister was speaking during the COVID-19 update in Lusaka today.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Chanda says in the last 24 hours, the country has recorded One Hundred positive COVID-19 cases among 30 districts, out of 6 Thousand two Hundred and four cases tested.

Dr Chanda explained that there has not been any death recorded in the last 24 hours as the number remains at One Thousand Two Hundred and 36.

And some cabinet ministers have encouraged all Zambians to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Lawrence Sichalwe has urged traditional leaders to ensure that they sensitise their subjects on the vaccine.

Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa said he was taking the vaccine to encourage workers at his ministry, ZESCO and at the Energy Regulation Board.

And Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa stated that he was taking the vaccine to encourage the people of Luapula to do the same.

Meanwhile, A former Senior Diplomat Henry Ngilazi ,says eligible Zambians need to get vaccinated against the COVID -19 Virus in order achieve herd immunity.

He spoke at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, Duncan Chanda, the University Teaching Hospital Infectious Diseases Doctor says there should be no fears in getting the vaccine because it is safer to get vaccinated than not.

And Robert Mwanza, a ZNBC Member of Staff has encouraged his fellow scribes to get the jab.
