COVID-19: BAR OWNERS, PATRONS NABBED

March 29, 2020March 29, 20205By Lucky Phiri:Some Bar owners and several Patrons have been apprehended in Lusaka for disobeying the Presidential order that all bars and night clubs must close amid the Civid 19 Pandemic.This was when Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo received a tip off from the public that some bars and night clubs were still operating in Kaunda Square area.And, Mr. Lusambo who led a team of State police in an operation picked up some patrons and bar owners in the area that were found breaking the law.The Minister has since directed councillors in all the 33 wards in Lusaka to ensure they enforce the Presidential order in their various wards that all bars must close.He says in other areas were some bars and night clubs were reportedly to be opened are Garden Chilulu, Kanyama west and Emmasdale areas.Mr. Lusambo has told ZNBC News in an interview that bar and night club owners should adhere to the directive while those who still want to drink can buy from liquor store and drink from home.He warned that he will not allow people to defy measures that are meant to avert the spread of Covid 19.Mr. Lusambo said his office working with the law enforcers will ensure that people adhere to the health measures government has put in place.He however commended some bar and night club owners that have adhered to the COVID 19 precaution measures.
