COURT QUASHES APPEAL

The Industrial Relations Court has quashed the appeal by four individuals in management positions seeking to be members of the Agricultural Technical Professional Staff Union of Zambia -ATPSUZ.
The four are Alick Chirwa, Martin Situmbeko, Victor Silavwe and KELVIN Phiri.
Industrial Relations Court Judge Egypso Mwansa has upheld the decision by Labour Commissioner Chanda Kaziya that the four are NOT eligible to be members of ATPSUZ by virtue of holding management positions.
Judge Mwansa has also upheld Mr. Kaziya’s re-instatement of Joe Kamutumwa as Agricultural Technical Profession Staff Union of Zambia -ATPSUZ-General Secretary.
He has held that the Labour Commissioner properly exercised his authority and correctly interpreted the law.
Judge Mwansa said this pursuant to section three of the Industrial and Labour Relations Act number eight of 2008.
This is according to the judgement obtained by ZNBC news in Lusaka.
