Court convicts 1,782 drivers for violating traffic rules during the month of October 2019

THE Lusaka Fast Track Court for traffic offences has convicted 1,782 drivers for violating traffic rules and regulations during the month of October 2019.
RTSA Public Relations Manager Mukela Mangolwa has revealed in a statement that the secured convictions are for various traffic offences such as the use of un-roadworthy vehicles, un-licensed drivers, dangerous driving and contravening the SI which banned night driving.
Mangolwa said other offences were, expired certificate of fitness, expired driving license, expired road tax, use of handheld mobile phone while driving, use of unregistered motor vehicle and plying for hire (pirating).
He said dangerous driving and use of mobile phones while driving remains a major challenge on the Zambian roads.
And Mangolwa said the agency will remain on high alert in order to bring to book all road users violating the law with impunity.
He further appealed to members of the public to utilise the RTSA Toll-Free Line 983 and WhatsApp line 0965 429499 to report bad, careless, and dangerous drivers on roads.
