COSAFA Women’s Championship: Copper Queens eye semifinal slot

The Zambia Women’s national team will this afternoon be looking to seal their qualification to the semifinals of the ongoing 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The Queens thrashed Eswatini 5-0 on Thursday and will be keen to continue where they left off. Ochumba Oseke Lubanji was at her devastating best as she netted a hat-trick to lead Zambia to a comfortable 5-0 win.

Namibia is not a pushover and after a goalless draw against guest nation, Uganda, Namibia knows that anything less than a win will put them in a very compromising situation ahead of the final group games.

Indeni Roses goalkeeper Catherine Musonda is expected to continue between the sticks after keeping a clean sheet against Eswatini.

The back four is likely to remain unchanged with Mary Mulenga, Margaret Belemu, Agness Musesa, and Lushomo Mweemba making up the defensive quartet.

Milika Limwaya made her first Copper Queens start in over four years and was brilliant in the defensive midfield role. She is expected to keep her place with Mary Wilombe and Avell Chitundu partnering her in a 4-3-3 formation.

Ochumba Oseke Lubanji is expected to lead the attack alongside skipper Grace Chanda. Penelope Mulubwa will have to battle it out with the likes of Elizabeth Mupeso and Esther Namukwasa.

The match will kick off at 15:30hours at the Madibaz stadium and will be live on Supersport Channel 202, Cosafa.tv, and SABC. Uganda is up against Eswatini at 12:00hours in the other Group C match.
