CORRUPTION FIGHT STILL ON – NALUMANGO

BY RUTH CHAYINDA

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says the fight against corruption is ongoing and those found wanting will be prosecuted.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says there is no limitation to criminality and has since advised the investigative wings to be proactive in following up corrupt cases in line with President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s pronouncement of zero tolerance to corruption.

She says Government has not forgotten the alleged corruption that occurred in the previous government but will ensure the due process is followed.

The Vice President says the President has given a kind amnesty to those that may have acquired resources wrongly, to voluntarily hand it back to Government.

Mrs. NALUMANGO was responding to a question raised by Zambezi East Member of Parliament BRIAN KAMBITA during the Vice President’s Question Time in the National Assembly.

Mr. KAMBITA wanted to know when the country will see practical cases being taken to court over the rampant corruption.

And Mrs. NALUMANGO has warned UPND members involving themselves in Government functions such as the distribution of the Farmer Input Support Programme -FISP.

She said the UPND Government does not want any of its members caught up in wrong doings as they may drag the name of the party into disrepute.

This is after Chama North Member of Parliament YOTAM MTAYACHALO wanted to know why the UPND has resorted to taking over the distribution of FISP in the constituencies.

Meanwhile, Mrs. NALUMANGO said UPND administration is committed to ensuring that there is equity in the distribution of projects and national wealth.

She said the past Government only invested in their constituencies at the expense of opposition constituencies.

Mrs. NALUMANGO stated that this is why the Government has set over 25 million kwacha for Constituency Development Fund so that everyone benefits from the resources.

She said this in response to a question raised by Kalabo Central Member of Parliament CHINGA MIYUTU who asked the Vice President why there was a disparity in the allocation of feeder roads to provinces.
