“CORPORATE SECTOR KEY TO HEALTH SECTOR”

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya says the involvement of the corporate world in the health sector is key in attaining universal health coverage.
He was speaking when he commissioned the newly refurbished maternity ward B01 at the Women and Newborn Hospital at the University teaching hospital -UTH- which was adopted by Zamtel.
Dr. Chilufya thanked the board and management of Zamtel for the initiative saying the company has provided a benchmark for others to follow.
He further called on other cooperating partners to emulate Zamtel and partner with the ministry of health for the better provision of health services to all Zambians.
And Zamtel Chief Executive Officer Sydney Mupeta revealed that the company has invested 550,000 Kwacha to refurbish the entire ward which will result in increased bed spaces and a conducive working environment for the nursing staff.
Mr. Mupeta also announced that Zamtel will provide 4.5G internet access to the newly opened Maternity Ward to improve access to health and nutritional information for mothers.
Meanwhile, Zamtel Board Chairperson Danny Luswili said the refurbishment of the Maternity Ward goes to show that the company can make more community investments if the public continues to support the telecommunications firm.
