Cops Block Kambwili at Ukusefya pa Ng’wena

EXPELLED Patriotic Front member of the central committee Chishimba Kambwili has been blocked from attending Ukusefya pa Ng’wena, a traditional ceremony of the Bemba speaking people on instructions from their “superiors”.

And the Chitimukulu has told Kambwili that PF have been organized to beat up Kambwili at the ceremony.

Kambwili, the Roan PF member of parliament who has contested his expulsion in court, arrived in Kasama this morning and was headed to the venue of the ceremony when a group of senior police officers overtook his motorcade and stopped him.

“Sorry honorable, we have specific instructions to tell you not to attend this ceremony because the PF youths are planning to attack you. The best you can do is to stay away because they will cause harm to you and your delegation,” one of the senior police officers told Kambwili and his delegation.

The senior superintendent manning the police checkpoint with other officers then phoned the Northern Province Police Commissioner Richard Mweene who immediately came to meet Kambwili and explained the security concerns to him.

We have instructions that you should not attend the ceremony,
Mweene told Kambwili who then asked who had instructed them. “It is the Mwine Lubemba,” Mweene said, but Kambwili told him that he was not telling the truth and then decided to phone the Chitimukulu to verify the police’s claims.
In response, the Chitimukulu advised Kambwili to stay away for his own safety to avoid a repeat of what happened to Hakainde Hichilema in Mongu where a road rage led to his incarceration on alleged treason charges.

I have been told that PF cadres have mounted a roadblock to beat you. I am surprised that it’s the police that have stopped you so to avoid what happened in Mongu, just avoid it. This is your ceremony; as my child, I don’t want you to be harmed and locked up the way it happened in Mongu,
the Chitimukulu advised Kambwili who then U-turned and made a stopover at a fuel service station where he found a horde of PF cadres waiting to attack him.
But upon seeing Kambwili, the cadres aborted their mission and started praising him instead.
The youths went into jubilation and started cheering “Imbwili ni mbwili” instead of instituting the instructions given to beat up Kambwili.

Later at Radio Mano where Kambwili was scheduled to appear on a radio programme, a PF official was stationed there and turned away the Roan member of parliament.

I am extremely shocked at the turn of events. What has happened today in Kasama I did not expect. I just came to attend my own traditional ceremony. I am a law abiding citizen but I am shocked with the way I am being treated. They say I am a political non-entity, but why are they scared of me?
wondered Kambwili.
President Edgar Lungu is also in Kasama to attend the Ukusefya pa Ng’wena ceremony.
